By selectively targeting the laser’s energy over a tattoo, ink pigments are broken down into micro fragments. This can be used to dull the tattoo in a few sessions for a coverup, or to remove the tattoo completely.

The latest industry gold standard Medlite C6 and the Q-switched laser technologies are used to safely remove the pigments while surrounding skin tissue remains untouched. After the ink pigments have broken down, the body’s immune system disposes of them through natural physiological processes.

If retaining some body art is your preference, laser tattoo removal can help lighten the pigments of an old tattoo enough for an effective coverup to be achieved.  Rather than layering one tattoo directly over another and limiting yourself to tattoo designs you may again regret later, laser therapy can offer a pathway to the tattoo you’ve always wanted.

For others, the worry of pigments dropping out over time, leaving you with blurred outlines rather than definition; the choice for complete removal makes more sense.

Our friendly team will conduct a test patch during your free consultation. This will help to determine the best course of treatment required for your tattoo removal.

For coverups, the number of treatments required for tattoo removal will vary. Dependent on the types of inks used and the age of the tattoo, and if minimal fading is required, only a handful of sessions may be needed. Each person will respond to the treatment differently and will have different expectations.

For patients wanting full removal of a tattoo, expect multiple half hour sessions. Sessions are usually held 4 to 6 weeks apart to promote adequate healing and can require between 10 and 12 treatments. If the tattoo is new, and lighter colours are used, additional sessions might be required.
